Kenai River Fishing Trips
When anglers talk about putting fish in the boat, the Kenai River is always the first name out of their mouth. We run guided trips across all three distinct river sections — upper, middle, and lower — targeting whatever species is actively running. Our guides know every gravel bar, every seam, and every tidal window on this river. Book a full or half-day trip and put that knowledge to work.
Three Distinct Sections
Upper, middle, and lower Kenai each fish completely differently. We guide them all.
Year-Round Runs
From early Kings in May to trophy Rainbows in October — the Kenai is always producing something.
Licensed & Insured
All guides hold current ADF&G licenses, CPR/First Aid, and USCG credentials.
From the River
Alaska's Hardest-Working River
The Kenai is 82 miles of non-stop production. It's not just the fish counts — it's that the river holds fish across multiple species simultaneously at different sections. While sockeye are stacking in the middle river, the upper section is churning out 30-inch Rainbows on fly gear. No other river in Alaska offers this kind of concurrent multi-species opportunity.
Where We Fish
Upper Kenai
Kenai Lake → Skilak Lake
Motor-restricted, pristine glacial water flowing through Chugach National Forest. Our guides target trophy Rainbows and Dollies using drift boat technique — the only legal way to access this stretch.
Middle Kenai
Skilak Lake → Soldotna
The high-volume sockeye production zone. When the late-July run peaks, a single sonar station logs upwards of 50,000 fish per day. We anchor in the proven seams and put clients on limits.
Lower Kenai
Soldotna → Cook Inlet
Tidal influence controls the bite windows down here. Fresh-run fish are still chrome, still sea-liced, and absolutely electric. This section also sees first-light King action during legal seasons.
Guide Intel: Timing is Everything
The Kenai doesn't fish the same way in June as it does in August. Early-season trips target Kings and Rainbows on the upper river. Mid-summer is all about sockeye limits in the middle stretch. By September, coho are in and Rainbows are gorging behind the spawning beds. Book for your dates — we'll target whatever is peaking.
Our Boats
Willie Drift Boats
Custom 20-foot Willie drift sleds — the only vessel allowed on the upper Kenai sanctuary water. Oar-controlled, silent, and purpose-built for reading currents and positioning anglers precisely on holding fish.
21-Foot Power Sleds
The workhorses of the middle and lower river. Running upriver between spots is what separates a 2-fish morning from a limit by noon. Our jets are rigged with rod holders, fish boxes, and gear for full-day operations.
