Current 2026 Area 3A charter rules — 2027 regulations pending. Under 2026 NOAA/IPHC Area 3A charter regulations, anglers may retain two halibut per day: one of any size and one fish no more than 27 inches. Charter halibut fishing is closed on all Wednesdays and all Tuesdays from June 2 through August 25.

To sustain healthy bottom-fish populations, charter vessels are prohibited from retaining halibut on Wednesdays during the peak summer months. Plan your charter schedule carefully.
Charter Logbook & Halibut Stamp Requirements
Under NOAA Fisheries / Area 3A charter regulations, charter anglers age 18 and older must possess a $20 Charter Halibut Stamp. Harvested halibut on charter vessels are recorded directly by the licensed captain/operator in the official ADF&G eLogbook system at the time of harvest.
