Under current standing regulations, the Kenai River personal-use dipnet fishery is scheduled for July 10 through July 31. Normal fishing hours are 6:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m. daily. ADF&G may change hours, limits, methods, or open areas by emergency order. Only qualified Alaska residents with a valid resident sport-fishing license and Upper Cook Inlet Personal Use Salmon Permit may participate. King salmon may not be retained. The Kenai River personal use dipnetting fishery is open from July 10 through July 31, 2027. Under standing regulations, Kenai River dipnetting is open 6:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m. daily from July 10 through July 31. 24-hour fishing occurs ONLY if ADF&G issues an Emergency Order extending hours.

Cook Inlet Personal Use Permit

Only Alaska residents with a valid resident sport fishing license and a Cook Inlet Personal Use Permit may participate. Harvest records must be logged immediately.

The lower river dipnet zones are highly tidal. The most productive fishing occurs 2 hours before high tide to 2 hours after high tide as schools of sockeye push in.
